Following our class feedback it was clear that we needed on work on our idea a bit more. I decided to research already existing videos on volunteering for inspiration.
I like that the upbeat music relates to the excitement of the festival
It shows volunteers explaining their roles and experiences in a way that is brief enough so that the audience don't zone out, but also provides a good amount of detail
I like that it's filmed on location during the festival. We won't be able to film during the festival (since it's in May!) but it would be great to include cutaway footage in a similar way.
I'm inspired by the use of mid shots where you can see the location in the background. This looks far more engaging than just having a plain background in front of a white screen for example. This provides the audience with an insight to the setting but in a way that's not distracting.
This was quite similar to our initial idea of passing an object between shots
It's quite difficult to see what's written on the paper. I wasn't even aware that there was something to be read until half way through the video.
We could still do something similar but have the volunteers speaking about their experiences rather than having it written down
I like the use of varying locations within Brighton - if we used locations like this it would give the audience a sense of what the Brighton community is like.
This video also shows different locations in Brighton and is shot beautifully. This really persuades the audience to visit the city.
Engages with members of the community and relates to the dance theme of the festival
Uses upbeat, chart, pop music, which sounds familiar and engaging to the audience
Includes contact details for Brighton Festival and shows their logo
