Brighton Festival Information

Brighton Festival takes place every May in many different parts of Brighton and Hove. It includes performances from music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate, outdoor and family events.

Volunteer roles:
Stewarding

  • Assists stewards with greeting the public checking tickets, directing the customers and dealing with enquires
  • Monitor any disturbances and inform supervisors or managers of any issues
  • being aware of evacuation procedures and assisting paid staff in ensuring evacuations are safe and quick
  • Passing on any first aid, health and safety, maintenance or housekeeping issues to a supervisor or event manager
  • Representing BDFL by maintaining a smart appearance and a friendly polite demeanor
  • Knowing the seating plan and venue layout well enough to direct customers
Marketing
  • General office administration (for example press cutting)
  • Outdoor promotions, such as handing out balloons and flyers
  • Helping with the delivery of programmes and marketing materials to other festival venues
  • Assisting with market research
Artistic Planning

  • Support the work and general administration of the planning department
  • Answering phones and liaising with artists/agents to make all necessary artist accommodation, travel and/or subsistence arrangements
  • Arranging any groundwork for festival and festival related events

Learning, Access and Participation (LAP)

  • Assist with LAP Dyke Road rest garden
  • Meet and greet visitors to events
  • Assist with LAP events
These roles show how theres many things that volunteers can get involved in, basically there's something for everyone. We should make this clear within our video. Moreover it shows like there's a lot of hard work to be done.
