A brand is not a logo; that is just a visual mark which represents the brand. Products are a part of the brand and the brand will set a certain standard for their products. A brand is someone's gut feeling about the product, service or organisation. Consumers should be able to trust that brand and believe that there is no better alternative. Learning this information about brand is useful to us and it stresses the importance brand holds to each of the industries we will be working with. It is also important for us to comply with their brand morals.
Brighton Festival aims to inspire artists to be creative
They have a RECIPE for quality:
Respect
Empower
Create
Inspire
Pride
Embrace
They aim to celebrate difference between Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival. The Dome's logo is inspired by the architecture in their building and can be seen on the edges on the D. The Festival's logo was inspired by bunting and steps in the theatres. The festival also features brighter, more playful colours. As I will be working on a video for Brighton festival I must remember to include these elements in order to promote their brand.
We also had a talk from photographer and graphic designer, Teri V how to deliver a successful pitch. These were some of her top tips:
- Never cover up mistakes, be open and natural about it
- Don't use too much technical jargon, make sure the audience can understand
- Explain why are we're different in order to get noticed against other groups
- Be smart, happy, friendly
- Use eye contact
- Preparation is key - do lots of research and planning
- Contextual research - see what others have done previously
- Show how much you know about the client
- Critical path - who does what and when
What to include in the pitch:
- Introduce ourselves and what we can do/have done
- Give them something to have and take away
- Digest a lot of the things we're going to do on their project
- Possibly have different examples
How to win a pitch:
- Understand the brief
- Research company and brand
- Keep to guidelines
- Create a fantastic idea
- Present work amazingly (5 second video clips)
- Know what you're talking about
- Look the part
- Keep in contact with the company
- Don't be late
- Learn how to talk to groups of people
- Have an early night
